About

Ancient Dispatch tells the stories of the ancient world: the kings and poets, sages and bankers, rebels and doctors whose names survive in old books, inscriptions and the ground itself.

What we publish

  • Ancient India Chronicles: one figure from ancient India at a time, from roughly 2500 to 450 BCE, told as a story and then checked against the evidence. New chapters appear on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Weekly Roundup: every Saturday morning, a short digest of the week’s news from ancient history and archaeology around the world, with links to the original reports.
  • Features: longer pieces when a subject deserves more room.

How we handle the truth

The ancient past is full of good stories, and not all of them are true. We tell the story first, because that is how these figures were remembered. Then every chapter ends with a plain note on the truth behind the tale: what comes from early texts, what was added by later tellers, what archaeology can and cannot show, and how rough the dates are. We list our sources so you can follow them up.

We do not invent quotations, facts or sources. Where scholars disagree, we say so. Where nobody knows, we say that too.

Who writes it

Ancient Dispatch is written and edited by a small independent team. We use AI-assisted tools for research and drafting, and every piece is checked against the sources listed with it. We are not a university or a museum, and we don’t claim to be experts. We are readers who care about getting it right.
